Comfort in Quarantine

never has this been truer then now!

As someone who often faces forms of social anxiety, I have found immense comfort in the last two months because everyone is living the same way. This pandemic has put every single person, from the most social and popular to the introverted and those “still trying to figure out where they want to be” on the same playing field. We are all at home, living in the unknown, canceling plans and not making plans, and wondering what we will be able to do and when we will be able to do it.

No longer do I have to worry about everyone else being out and having fun with their friends and me being on the couch because I wasn’t invited out or I am feeling guilty about saying “no.” No longer do I have to think about not having things to look forward to and summer plans because no one knows what we will be able to do in the coming months. No longer do I have to entertain the looming question of “what are your weekend plans” or “what are you doing tonight.” Nope, for right now I am ok with the impact of COVID on my social life.
